The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character.<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Invesp&#8217;s CEO, Khalid Saleh, advises that you should start with the preps as soon as possible:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You can never start preparing for Black Friday too early, especially with the supply chain issues that everybody is dealing with. The earlier you prepare, the better otherwise, you put yourself at the risk of not being prepared.<\/span><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Obviously, it won&#8217;t take years to prepare for Black Friday, but months ahead is fine. For companies that we usually help with their conversion rate, we start preparing for Black Friday 2-3 months before the day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You might think that&#8217;s too early, right? But you need to know that there&#8217;s a lot that goes into creating a BFCM strategy. There is a pre-and post-strategy that you have to think about.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Most companies make the mistake of only focusing on the pre-strategy, which is the acquisition of customers. But you have to analyze after the BFCM and zoom into what worked well, what didn&#8217;t work, and what opportunities you can explore going forward.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What Shoppers Want and Expect For Black Friday<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You&#8217;ll be mistaken if you think online shoppers love Black Friday only for the massive discounts, deals, and offers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Yes, it&#8217;s Black Friday, and it&#8217;s famous for massive deals and discounts, but that doesn&#8217;t mean <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.invespcro.com\/blog\/e-commerce-user-experience-optimization\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">user experience\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.invespcro.com\/blog\/customer-satisfaction-survey\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">customer satisfaction\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">should be neglected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you offer massive discount deals but with a bad customer experience, you might make some sales because the shoppers want what you&#8217;re offering at that price, but most won&#8217;t come back.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Let me make it more clear. If you offer, let&#8217;s say, 70% off on an item, according to a study,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/forbesbusinesscouncil\/2019\/11\/21\/consumers-are-hungry-for-an-experience-based-connection-with-your-brand\/?sh=5776773e58fe#:~:text=According%20to%20one%20study%2C%2083%25%20of%20consumers%20admit%20paying%20as%20much%20attention%20to%20how%20brands%20treat%20them%20as%20on%20the%20product%20they%20sell.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">83% of customers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0will pay attention to how you treat them (customer experience) than the product.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Another study found that\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sweor.com\/firstimpressions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">88% of shoppers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0are less likely to return to a site after a bad experience.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In this section, I&#8217;ll highlight three marketing concepts that seem to be the norm but are backed with data pooled from customers on what they&#8217;re looking for during the Black Friday event.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">1. Free shipping:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.invespcro.com\/blog\/free-delivery-marketing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Free delivery<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is something many online shoppers have come to expect from businesses (online retailers and brick-and-mortar stores), but not everyone does it yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to research by National Retail Federation,\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">49% of the respondents<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0cited free shipping as the reason they made a purchase they were hesitant about during Blak Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Free delivery has two types; unconditional and conditional free delivery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Unconditional free delivery means every item on your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.invespcro.com\/blog\/best-shopify-apps\/\">Shopify store<\/a> ships for free. If you decide to go this route, you could lose money on small purchases or low-margin items.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On the other hand, conditional free delivery allows you to provide attractive shipping offers while ensuring every order is profitable. This will come as a pleasant surprise to shoppers, especially when it&#8217;s not something your business is known for.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A solid proof way of offering free delivery this coming black Friday is to absorb the shipping costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2. Buy Online and Pick up in stores (the omnichannel experience):<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Buying online and picking up in-store is certainly something shoppers look forward to.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to research by National Retail Federation, 20% of the respondents cited the<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/nrf.com\/media-center\/press-releases\/thanksgiving-draws-nearly-190-million-shoppers#:~:text=And%20the%20ability%20to%20order%20online%20and%20pick%20up%20in%2Dstore%20was%20cited%20by%2020%20percent%2C%20up%20from%2015%20percent%20last%20year.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0ability to order online and pick up in-store<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0as a reason to shop on Black Friday.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If your business isn&#8217;t just online, but you have retail stores, providing shoppers with the ability to buy online and pick up in-store will be good for your business.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A survey conducted across 46,000 shoppers showed that<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2017\/01\/a-study-of-46000-shoppers-shows-that-omnichannel-retailing-works#:~:text=Of%20the%20study%20participants%2C%20only%207%25%20were%20online%2Donly%20shoppers%20and%2020%25%20were%20store%2Donly%20shoppers.%20The%20remaining%20majority%2C%20or%2073%25%2C%20used%20multiple%20channels%20during%20their%20shopping%20journey.%20We%20call%20them%20omnichannel%20customers.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a073% of them (omnichannel customers)<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0used multiple channels during their shopping journey, which included buying online and picking up in-store.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">3. Easy returns:<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildive.com\/library\/rakuten-whitepaper-the-right-fit\/#:~:text=Online%20retailers%20face%20a%20return%20rate%20over%2020%25%2C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Online retailers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0face a return rate of over 20%. This is much more than brick-and-mortar stores face.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This is a big issue for online stores because sales are lost, and nobody wants to lose their revenue. This leads a lot of businesses to have sketchy return policies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">One of the significant issues with Black Friday is that it&#8217;s a one-time event with deals and massive discounts. This leads to a lot of\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bluecore.com\/black-friday-2020\/#:~:text=The%20majority%20of%20Black%20Friday%20purchases%20(72%25)%20are%20impulse%20purchases%20across%20all%20industries.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">impulse purchases<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ecommercebytes.com\/2020\/11\/20\/black-friday-shoppers-demand-free-returns-survey-shows\/#:~:text=45%25%20of%20consumers%20say%20that%20not%20having%20a%20free%20returns%20policy%20will%20be%20enough%20to%20put%20them%20off%20buying%20something%20they%E2%80%99re%20interested%20in%20this%20Black%20Friday%20%E2%80%94%20more%20than%20any%20other%20factor%20%E2%80%94%20while%2048%25%20say%20that%20free%20returns%20is%20the%20most%20important%20consideration%20for%20them%20aside%20from%20the%20size%20of%20the%20actual%20discount.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">research<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, 45% of consumers say that not having a free returns policy is enough to put them off buying something they&#8217;re interested in this Black Friday (more than any other factor). In comparison, 48% say that free returns are their most important consideration \u2014 after the size of the discount offered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Though some brands already offer generous free returns on their purchased products, this is also an excellent way to differentiate yourself from your competition this Black Friday, especially if it&#8217;s not common in your niche.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">P.s &#8211; making it difficult for customers to return items leads to negative reviews for your brand and adds your brand to the pile of businesses your target audience is pissed at.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">11 Tips To Prepare Your Shopify Store<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The tips I&#8217;ll be touching on in this section will cut across using different channels to help improve your site sales. Channels include email, disciplines such as A\/B testing, website analysis, usability analysis, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">1. Prepare your overall strategy.<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This is a birds&#8217; eye view of your plans and marketing strategy for the coming Black Friday.
